SEBP wants people to be able to understand and use policing evidence, whatever technology, language or access need they bring.

Using this website
Designed for clear reading and predictable navigation.
We are building the redesigned website to work with keyboards, screen readers, browser zoom and voice-control software. You should be able to:
- skip directly to the main content and move through pages in a logical order
- zoom to 400% and reflow content without scrolling in two directions
- recognise keyboard focus and use controls with comfortable touch targets
- pause moving news, or avoid motion when your device requests reduced motion
- read articles with clear headings, short sections and a limited line length
- understand meaningful images from their alternative text and credits
Language access
English plus 16 translated language options.
The language control in the header offers Welsh, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, French, Arabic, Bengali, Punjabi, Urdu, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, simplified and traditional Chinese, Lithuanian and Russian.
Translated pages are clearly labelled. English remains the checked source of record, especially for names, figures and research conclusions. Automatic versions are excluded from search indexing until an editor has reviewed them.
Listening
Relevant research articles have an audio-ready format.
Where available, a reviewed MP3 can be played online or downloaded. Until a recording is commissioned, supported browsers can use an on-device voice and everyone can open the same curated listening script as text.
Audio is never published automatically: an editor must check pronunciation, emphasis, factual meaning and the matching transcript first.
Known limitations
This preview has not yet had an independent accessibility audit.
We are not claiming full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance at this stage. Areas that still need formal testing include:
- screen-reader and voice-control testing across supported browser combinations
- third-party video player controls and captions
- the accuracy and reading order of future documents uploaded by editors
- human review of automatic translations and recorded audio editions
